Antimicrobial resistance is a known major public health issue, and antimicrobial stewardship - the appropriate use of antimicrobial agents - is critical to stemming the continued emergence of antimicrobial-resistant organisms.
This one hour webinar will provide an overview of antimicrobial stewardship; discuss best practice guidelines, and antimicrobial stewardship in Ontario hospitals.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the rationale for antimicrobial stewardship.
- Provide an overview of the IDSA/SHEA antimicrobial stewardship guidelines for institutions.
- Describe the status of antimicrobial stewardship in Ontario hospitals.
- Provide an overview of the ISMP Canada Ontario Antimicrobial Stewardship Project.

She is also the project coordinator for the ISMP Canada Ontario Antimicrobial Stewardship Project, a multi-phase provincial antimicrobial stewardship project led by Mr. David U and Dr. Allison McGeer, and funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion. |
