Development of a Guide to Support the Design of Safe Health Product Labels* and Packages
Thursday, September 19, 2013 (1:00 pm to 2:30 pm EDT)
This webcast will introduce and explain the collaborative initiative between ISMP Canada and Health Canada on the development of a document to support the design of labels* and packages for health products in Canada. This guide is also intended to align and support the Plain Language Labelling Initiative currently underway at Health Canada.
Objective: |
To share information on the background and activities to-date in the development of a Guide to Support the Design of Safe Health Product Labels* and Packages
|
Background: |
The purpose of the product label and package is to communicate accurate and current information about the product so that it can be used safely and appropriately to minimize the risk of harm.
The guide will identify information to assist manufacturers in the design of labels* and packages that are clear, accurate and understandable. The principles outlined within the guide are also intended to serve as a reference to others (e.g., buying groups) to assist in their assessment of products for purchase.
The guide will draw from regulatory and patient safety content, experience and developments in Canada and other jurisdictions.
